Removal
Uninstall the suite, then steal the file types back.
Removing WPS is easy. The leftover is a double-click that still aims at a missing app or a Store stub. Fix defaults before you panic about Word. This site is an independent handbook and is not affiliated with Kingsoft Office Software Corporation Limited.
Windows
Settings, Apps, uninstall WPS Office. If it came from 9NSGM705MQWC, remove it the same way. Reboot if the installer asks. Then set DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, PDF defaults. Guide: after uninstall.
Mac
Quit the apps. Drag WPS from Applications to Trash. Empty Trash. Check Login Items for leftover helpers.
Linux
Use the same package manager that installed the Deb or RPM. Do not delete random folders under /opt until the package is gone.
Why Word looks broken
Usually it is not Word. It is a leftover association or a Store stub that still owns DOCX. Assign Microsoft Word explicitly, then test with a new file. If Word itself fails to launch, that is a Microsoft repair, not a WPS leftover.
